Interested in the health professions?

IB is an excellent alternative to the heavily molecular undergraduate major many pre-meds and others interested in the health professions pursue. There's also nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry. If your interests center on animals rather than humans, there's also veterinary medicine as a possibility.

A BS in Integrative Biology is a terrific foundation for a Masters degree to qualify you as a laboratory technician or a Ph.D. for a career in research and university or college teaching. And if teaching in high school catches your fancy, a degree in IB supplemented with appropriate courses in education will give you excellent preparation for such a career. (It is also possible to prepare for high school teaching through the Teaching of Biology Program, an interdisciplinary curriculum administered by the School of Molecular and Cellular Biology.)
