Undergraduate Support

Need Financial Help Getting Through School?

Looking for Financial Assistance for Special Activities?

This is the Place to Start!

There are an enormous number of resources to help you find sources of aid for a college education. A good off-campus place to start is the US Department of Education web site.

For on-campus resources, visit the web site for the University of Illinois Office of Student Financial Aid.

The School of Integrative Biology, with the generous support of its alumni and friends, offers several kinds of financial support for specific purposes.

If you are especially looking for support for study abroad, visit the Illinois International web site and look at their funding opportunities.

Robert H. Davis Memorial Fund. This Fund was named in honor of Robert H Davis, an undergraduate student in Integrative Biology who was on track to graduate in May, 2008. His tragic death in February 2008 cut short what was clearly a promising career. This Fund was established by his family in his memory in order to provide support for undergraduate students to participate in undergraduate research, as Robert himself did. A typical award is about $1,000.

SIB Enhancement Fund. FUNDING IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. WATCH FOR UPDATES. This Fund is supported by annual donations from alumni and friends of SIB. Among other purposes, it provides financial support for undergraduate students to participate in biologically-related activities off campus, such as tuition or travel to off-campus courses, travel to research sites outside the USA, or other similar activities. Award amounts depend on the expense that will be incurred, ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Applications are accepted as long as funding is available. Awards are usually decided within 10 days of receipt of the application.

The William H. Luckmann Award is administered by a committee from the Illinois Natural History Survey. The award provides funds to support undergraduate or graduate student attendance and presentation of research results at the annual meeting of the Entomological Society of America (ESA) or a meeting of another appropriate professional society.

Stipend: $750
