We welcome students who would like to earn IB 390 credit to gain experience in laboratory or field work, experienced students who would like to perform independent research (e.g, for a summer internship or for distinction papers), or students who seek work-study employment. We require that students are available to work at least 3 hour blocks between 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays and at least 6 hours per week. If you are interested in joining the lab, please contact Dr. Yang at yangw at illinois.edu.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2018 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, which runs for 10 weeks–from May 29, 2018 to August 3, 2018. We welcome applications from students with no prior research experience but with a strong interest in ecosystem ecology, biogeochemistry, environmental microbiology, or related fields; and we especially welcome applications from outstanding students from under-represented groups and/or from primarily undergraduate institutions and community colleges. Travel expenses to/from Champaign-Urbana and lodging will be provided, and the REU student will receive a $500 per week stipend. More information about this program and how to apply can be found here. Applications will be accepted through March 23, 2018.
