PhD Programs
The School of Integrative Biology offers a range of programs for prospective students seeking a doctoral degree. Please refer to the specific department or program for more information. As a graduate student, you will likely find most of the information you need under one of these specific graduate departments or programs.
If you are looking for funds to help you carry out your research or to attend workshops or meetings, please visit our Graduate Student Grants & Awards page. If you are thinking of applying to one of our graduate programs, please refer to the specific department or program's information.

PhD in Entomology
The Entomology PhD program provides advanced training in the biology of insects, preparing students for careers in research, teaching, and applied science. Students gain a strong foundation in basic and applied entomology while specializing in areas such as molecular genetics, chemical ecology, pollinator health, disease ecology, and integrated pest management. The program welcomes students with diverse backgrounds in the biological sciences.

PhD in Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior
The Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Behavior administers several graduate degree programs. Areas of training include the broadly defined disciplines of Animal Behavior, Biomechanics, Comparative Anatomy, Conservation Biology, Ecology, Evolution, Genetics/Genomics and Physiology. Students are expected to develop expertise in three of these six areas.

PhD in Plant Biology
The Plant Biology PhD program offers comprehensive training in the study of plants across molecular, cellular, physiological, ecological, and evolutionary levels. Students develop expertise in areas such as genomics, ecology, systematics, conservation biology, and biotechnology while gaining broad professional and research skills. Faculty research spans from fundamental plant processes to applied studies addressing global challenges in agriculture, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability.

PhD in Ecology, Evolution & Conservation Biology
The Program in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology (PEEC) PhD program offers flexible, interdisciplinary training for careers in these disciplines. Students design individualized study plans across multiple departments while gaining broad knowledge and technical expertise in ecology, evolutionary biology, and related disciplines.
