Allison is a graduate of the Entomology graduate program. She got her MS in 2016 and her PhD in 2019. Before she started her graduate work at UIUC she was a high school science teacher
She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). She is also one of the professors who teaches in the Environmental Science Program. Her position has a combination of both teaching and research. She typically teaches 4 classes a semester and has an active research lab with undergraduate students. She teaches a wide range of classes in biology and environmental science from non-majors, general education courses to introduction to biology to a study aboard course that travels to Costa Rica. Her research focuses on ecology of mosquito and tick hosts in the northern Kentucky/greater Cincinnati region. Her lab also does social science research to better understand how humans interact with mosquito and ticks. They couple the results of the ecology and social science research to develop educational materials and control methods with various community partners and government agencies.
