Alumni Profile: Kylee Noel
Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Employer: The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Kylee is a current postdoctoral research associate at UIUC who graduated with her Doctorate Degree in Entomology in 2024. She is thankful to be able to spend time out in the field, at the lab bench, attending outreach events, and at the computer analyzing data— all of which she can do in her current position. Her research focuses on insecticide resistance in mosquitoes, looking at the mechanisms behind resistance and the consequences of resistant phenotypes on different aspects of mosquito ecology. She also developed and now manages the Mosquito Ambassador Program, a statewide citizen science initiative that provides Illinois residents with the tools to collect mosquito eggs in their own yards.

She believes that her IB degree has had a big impact on her life personally and professionally due to the connection. There are many exceptional researchers in IB with whom she has have developed both professional collaborations and friendships. This extends beyond the direct on-campus relationships, too. She has consistently met other Illinois alumni at conferences and events.

Kylee is a good contact for those interested in research and higher education. Contact Christina Swanson at alumnimentor@sib.illinois.edu if you would like to connect with Kylee.
