Entomology

The department offers many courses and seminars dealing with a broad range of entomological topics. Furthermore, the interdisciplinary nature of faculty interests creates a diverse set of research topics, ranging from neuroethology to biological control and everything in between. If it has something to do with an insect, chances are someone at the University of Illinois is studying it!

Meet the graduate community

Are you looking to take that next step in joining a department but want to know more about what life would be like at Illinois? We have you covered! From graduate RSOs and departmental get-togethers, to living in the Urbana-Champaign area, we have all the information you need to arrive and thrive. Take a moment to get to know us outside our academics, but be sure to return to start your academic journey in the School of Integrative Biology!

Did you find an unusual looking insect in your yard or house?

Maybe we can help you identify it. Ask Dr. Nick Seiter and he will try to answer your questions!

Looking for more?

Are you wanting to join the School of Integrative Biology but none of the departments have quite what you're looking for? Check out our Program in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation (PEEC) Biology! PEEC is an interdisciplinary, campus-wide program designed to provide individualized training for graduate students. This program prepares individuals for research and teaching careers in ecology and evolutionary biology and produces scientists who are both technically competent and broadly educated in ecology and evolutionary biology.
