Title: Associate Professor – Academic Medical Oncologist
Employer: University of Wisconsin Madison

Noelle graduated with an Honors Biology BS in 1996 and then went on to get her MD at UIC School of Medicine in 2000.  She is currently an academic medical oncologist. Her clinical practice is in gastrointestinal malignancies, and her research is in clinical research of new chemotherapies to treat cancer as well as cancer disparities and cancer control approaches to reducing the burden of cancer.

She is the principal investigator on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded project that aims to increase colorectal cancer screening in Wisconsin, and has led many clinical trials of new chemotherapies for gastrointestinal cancers, from Phase I through Phase III studies.

Dr. LoConte’s group is broadly interested in making sure benefits in cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment reach all populations. To do this, the team focuses on public health strategies via policy, systems and environmental change across Wisconsin—with a particular emphasis on collaborations with Federally Qualified Health Clinics (FQHC) and nonprofit organizations on cancer screening and prevention.

You can read more about Noelle’s interests and achievements on her biography and lab website.  She also talks about her time as an Honors Biology student in a News Gazette feature.
