Matthew Yoder

I am fascinated by the challenge of describing biodiversity in an enduring and meaningful (useful) manner. I see the outcome of Earth's evolutionary experiment as almost inconceivably vast, and therefor developing a deep understanding of its nature is a grand challenge. As a taxonomist also trained in natural history collections informatics I develop data models and semantics, applications, and code that bridges these two worlds. As a lead of the Species File Group (https://speciesfilegroup.org/) I am fortunate to develop relationships and collaborations with hundreds from around the world who also think along these lines.
