The Program in Ecology, Evolution & Conservation Biology (PEEC) in SIB offers a suite of competitive awards designed to support graduate students as they advance ecological, evolutionary, and conservation-focused research. The PEEC Summer Research Assistantship provides summer stipend support for one to two months, helping students continue their thesis or dissertation work without interruption. The PEEC Summer Research Grant offers funding for graduate students (and supervised post-doctoral researchers) — often paired with undergraduate mentees — to pursue summer research that fosters mentorship and scientific discovery. These awards enable PEEC students to dedicate time and resources toward field studies, lab experiments, data collection, and mentoring relationships. Through this support, PEEC empowers its community to pursue impactful, high-quality research in ecology, evolution, and conservation while strengthening their scientific contributions and professional growth at Illinois.
