Haley graduated from IBH in 2021 and then completed her Master's in Genetic Counseling from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in Spring 2023. She is currently an oncology genetic counselor at Northwestern Medicine in Lake Forest, Illinois
“In terms of shadowing, the NSGC (https://www.nsgc.org) has a find a genetic counselor section. I found all of myshadowing opportunities through that. One place I know is great for shadowing is Insight Medical Genetics in Chicago. Basically, any private practice will have less strict rules about shadowing.”
“During my time at the University of Illinois, I was a part of the Integrative Biology Honors Program. Being in IBH allowed me to take a variety of biology classes to meet my interests. All of the IB faculty were always extremely passionate about their classes which made my experience that much better. Being in IB also introduced me to peers with very different interests than my own, which helped me learn more about the different applications of biology.”
